WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis has been around for literally thousands of years. It has, in the past, been associated with the mystical. The truth is, however, that hypnosis is not the least bit mystic. We have all experienced this state.
Hypnosis is a natural state of altered awareness. We go in and out of it naturally every day. An example of this may be gazing at a naked flame, staring at the television or even staring at items on the shelves of the local supermarkets. Anybody that practices relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga is using hypnosis. It is a very pleasant safe and natural altered state of awareness in which you are complete control. Whilst in hypnosis you are fully aware of everything that goes on around you, and you can return to full awareness at any time you choose.

Hypnotherapy is a powerful form of brief therapy. It combines hypnosis with many different techniques including direct suggestion, indirect suggestion, metaphor, mental imagery, and various other psychological approaches.
